The Department of Meteorology says that Cyclone MICHAUNG, which was in the southwestern Bay of Bengal Sea area, will continue to develop and move away from Sri Lanka, towards the northwest.
The department mentioned that it will go towards northern Tamil Nadu and then move northwards and make landfall on the coast of the southern Andhra region by December 05, 2023.
The department stated that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North, South and North-West provinces.
Heavy rains of more than 75 mm may occur in some areas, and scattered showers or thundershowers may occur in other areas after 1.00 pm.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
