Today (02) the Department of Meteorology says that occasional rain may occur in Sabaragamuwa province and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. The department stated that a few spots of rain may occur in the Western Province and Galle and Matara districts, while a few spots of rain may occur in the North-Western Province.
In Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night. In the western slopes of the central mountains, and in the North-Central Province, Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the winds blowing from time to time can become gusty between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
