Three suspects were captured by the Welikada Police when they tried to resell some of the artifacts that were taken from the Presidential Palace on July 9 during the demonstration.
The accused are 28, 34, and 37 years old and live in the Rajagiriya Obesekarapura, according to the police.
The suspects had taken 40 copper balls that were fastened to the Presidential Palace’s walls so that drapes could be hung. On July 9, a group of protesters broke into the President’s House and seized these artifacts. Investigators believe the suspects to be drug users. The Anti-Vice Unit of Colombo-North will receive the suspects for further investigation.
