152 types of medicines are still lacking in Sri Lanka, according to Dr Saman Rathnayake, Additional Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, who made the statement in a televised show.
According to him, the delay in the process of importing medicines has caused a shortage of medicines.
He points out that the loan money given by the Indian loan scheme and the Asian Development Bank to bring medicines to Sri Lanka is a very long process.
Dr Saman Ratnayake, Additional Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, further stated that priority should be given to the import of fuel as well as to the health sector.
