Buddha preached the noble dharma to five people who sought the truth with him in the noble land of Isipathana Migadaya in Varanasi. As Aloko Udapadi Vijja Udapadi, the Noble Dharma descended to the three worlds. In the end, the first Maharahath of the Gautama Buddha Order appeared on this great day the ascetic Kondanya as Annakondanya Bhikkhu.

At the same time, the three sons of this noble order were born. Dharmachakra came down. Madhya Pratipadava Arya Ashtangika Marga Trilakshana Chaturarya Satya Deva people began to understand. Also, the Buddha’s first death was on this Poya day.

The preaching of the Abhidharma began by showing the example of the Buddha’s care for his mother when he ascended to the world of snakes. It was also on this great day that the people of God received the great lecture which was given in depth through Abhidharma.

For forty-five years the Buddha preached the noble Dharma. It was on a day like today that the great task of arranging it in order and handing it down to the next generation or the first dharma Sangayana began. If this noble service had not been done then, it is impossible to imagine what direction this order would have taken.

The last Poson Pohoya was celebrated with great pomp as the beginning of Local Buddhism. That’s how important this poem is when thinking about the Sri Lankan monk society. Fifty people, including Prince Aritta, were ordained as priests on this great day. It was on a day like today that this Sri Lankan generation began to roam around the universe and provide spiritual healing to the world until today.

The Sedagon Pagoda in Burma is a Buddhist sacred place that has gained great respect and worship in the world. Swarnamali Maha Chaitanya is a place that is second in honor and worship.

It is on a great day like today that Maharaja Dutugemunu laid the foundation stone to bequeath this great stupa to the world, which shows the pride of this sacred place of ours to the world, the geometric design skills of our ancestors.

During the reign of King Kitsiri Mevan, Prince Danta and Princess Hemamala, the eighty-four-thousand-thousand-thousand-thousand-year-old Dharmaskandha, which had been touched by the Buddha, were sent to Sri Lanka on an auspicious day like today.

The possession of the tooth relic by the king at that time was a strong reason for the stability of the kingdom. Therefore, even today, Lord Dalada has a special place in this island. Dalada Perahara can also be called a cultural festival that has been respected by the Buddhist people of the world since ancient times. All these elements were bequeathed to our country because Danta Dhatu came to our country. In this way, Esala Poya can be considered as a great Poya day for the Buddhists of the world as well as especially for the Buddhist people of Sri Lanka.
