The National Super League four-day tournament begins tomorrow

The National Super League four-day cricket tournament, which will be held with the participation of 100 players, is scheduled to start tomorrow (19th) in Colombo with the aim of selecting the players needed for the Test and One Day International matches.

Accordingly, the Colombo and Kandy team will compete in the Colombo S.S.C. On the field, Dambulla and the goal team will start their match tomorrow at Premadasa ground as well. The other team joining the tournament is the Jaffna team.

This year’s tournament, which will be held with the participation of 5 teams, will end on March 05 and the 4 teams who will take the lead at the end of the league round of the tournament will qualify for the final 4 teams. The final will be held from March 2nd to 5th at the Galle International Stadium.

In addition to Colombo SSC, R. Premadasa and Galle stadiums, matches will be held at Colombo P. Sara, Kandy Pallakele, Rangiri Dambulla and Hambantota Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadiums.

The National Super League cricket tournament is being held for the second time this year and the Kandy team led by Kamindu Mendis managed to win the championship of the tournament.

Sri Lanka Cricket Tournament Committee Chairman Mr Samantha Dodanwala is the match director of this tournament and while commenting on the tournament, he said that the LPL tournament will find suitable players for the T20 matches and this four-day tournament will be for the National Test and ODI squads. It helps to select the players. Mr Samantha Dodanwela said that the players who performed well in the sports club tournaments as well as the players representing the national team and the players who currently do not have the opportunity to represent the national team have joined the tournament.

Kusal Mendis (Colombo), Dhananjaya de Silva (Jaffna), Niroshan Dickwella (Kandy), Ramesh Mendis (Galle) and Kamindu Mendis (Dambulla) will be the captains of the tournament.

Each team and the players represented are as follows.

Colombo Team: Kusal Mendis – (captain), Dimuth Karunaratne, Avishka Fernando, Nipun Dhananjaya, Heshan Dhanushka, Charith Asanka, Nuvanindu Fernando, Dasun Shanaka, Ashen Bandara, Manoj Sarathchandra, Roshen Silva, Lakitha Munasinghe, Kavindu Nadeeshan, Isitha Wijesundara, Kasun Rajitha, Nuwan Pradeep, Nisala Tharaka, Kalana Perera, Prabhath Jayasuriya, Tharindu Rathnayake.

Jaffna Team: Dhananjaya de Silva – (captain), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Nishan Madushka, Navod Paranavithana, Sukitha Manoj, Kasun Abeyratne, Janith Liyanage, Madhava Warnapura, Avishka Tharindu, Lahiru Madhushanka, Ravindu Fernando, Pramod Madushan, Shiran Fernando, Kavi Pathirage, Eshan Malinga, Binura Fernando, Jeffrey Vandersay, Dilum Sudeera, Sanjula Bandara, Shashika Dulshan.

Kandy Team: Niroshan Dickwella – (captain), Chamika Karunaratne, Pathum Nissanka, Lasith Croospulle, Kasun Adhikari, Thanuka Dabare, Oshadha Fernando, Lahiru Udara, Ahan Wickramasinghe, Raveen Yasas, Sahan Arachchige, Lahiru Kumara, Amshi De Silva, Nimsara Dargalle, Matisha Pathirana, Nipun Ransika, Lasitha Amudeniya, Ashen Daniel, Vanuja Sahan, Sachitra Perera.

Galle Team: Ramesh Mendis – (Captain) Sangeet Cooray, Hashan Dumindu, Lakshan Edirisinghe, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Pasindu Suriyabandara, Thulina Dilshan, Vishad Randika, P. M. Kumar, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Kavishka Anjula, Dunith Wellalage, Nimesh Vimukthi, Suminda Lakshan, Dilshan Madhushanka, Thilanga Udeshan, Milan Rathnayake, Asanka Manoj, Praveen Jayawickrama, Kaumal Nanayakkara.
