Several political parties of the opposition have jointly launched a new alliance called “Freedom People’s Alliance” with the symbol of the helicopter.
10 political parties and groups including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the Freedom Janata Sabha, and the Uttar Lanka Coalition have formed this alliance to jointly compete in the upcoming local government elections.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena, Dallas Alahapperuma, Wimal Weerawansa, G.L. Peiris, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Udaya Gammanpila, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and 35 members who entered the Parliament from Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have participated in this.
