President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that Sri Lanka is focused on establishing economic cooperation with India and the countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) as well as strengthening relations with the European Union.
The President noted that the golden period of Sri Lanka’s foreign policy dates from the reign of the late Prime Minister DS Senanayake to the reign of Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike and also noted that Sri Lanka’s role in the international arena is very important in the face of global changes.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe made these comments while addressing the annual certificate awarding ceremony of the Bandaranaike International Study Center held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo yesterday (10) afternoon.
Here, certificates were awarded to 390 students who completed their studies at the levels of international relations certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and postgraduate courses, and gifts and certificates were awarded to students who excelled in the academic years of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The grant also took place here.
Appreciating the unique contribution made to Sri Lanka’s international relations, the late Jayantha Dhanapala and HMGS Palihakkara were given special awards by the President and his son Mr Sivanka Dhanapala received the award on behalf of the late Mr Jayantha Dhanapala.
