Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe stated that Sri Lanka’s dollar crisis is over as the Executive Committee will receive the approval of the US$ 2.9 billion loan amount to be provided by the International Monetary Fund tomorrow (20). Mr Weerasinghe pointed out that Sri Lanka will still have sufficient foreign reserves to import essential goods to Sri Lanka.

Mr Weerasinghe stated that by receiving the loan from the International Monetary Fund, the confidence of investors in Sri Lanka will increase and thus Sri Lanka will get new foreign funds and new approaches for investment opportunities. He said that the IMF’s package includes budget support and it is a new feature included in the IMF’s packages. (Lankadeepa)
