A justice of the Supreme Court today (27) recused himself from hearing an appeal filed by former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, which challenges a prior ruling in a case concerning the clearing of protected forest lands adjacent to the Wilpattu reserve for resettlement purposes.
The appeal was taken up before a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court.
At the commencement of the proceedings, presiding judge Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz announced that he would withdraw from the case, citing personal reasons for his recusal, Ada Derana reporter said.
