Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Member of Parliament, says that in the current situation, all military personnel should perform their duties with great patience and respect for discipline.
He also requests all military personnel and the police not to point guns at the common people under any circumstances.
He said that the army soldiers who came to stop a protest on the Galle Fort wall and the army officer who attacked a civilian at a gas station behaved in a way that disrespected the army and that in order to protect the reputation of the army, they should be given maximum punishment and the law should be implemented transparently.
Speaking in Parliament today, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka further stated that a large number of people will come to Gallumudoora on July 09, and that he hopes that the struggles and agitations will be 100% successful.
