Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery has been temporarily closed from today (07).
The Minister stated that this decision was taken due to the inability to unload the stock of the third crude oil ship brought to Sri Lanka due to the shortage of foreign exchange.
However, the Minister further stated that due to the fact that the Petroleum Corporation has sufficient fuel stocks, the people should not have unnecessary fear.
