The Ministry of Plantation Industries says that about 252,000 “Thembili” are exported from this country to the United Arab Emirates every week.
Two billion rupees have been earned by exporting King Coconut (Thembili ) in 2022, and the expected revenue this year is six billion rupees.
The Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera said that all measures are being taken to cultivate King Coconut plantations as a crop.
The minister said many countries have tried to grow King Coconuts, but all those efforts have failed. The most delicious King Coconuts in the world is the Sri Lankan King Coconut (Thembili ), and therefore steps will be taken to make Sri Lankan Thembili popular in the world with the brand “Sri Lanka Sweet Coconut” in the future.
