Trade Minister Naleen Fernando says that raids will be conducted all over the island to find out whether the consumers will get the benefit of the reduced prices of imported essential food items.

Accordingly, the Minister stated that the Consumer Affairs Authority was informed to carry out those raids in relation to supermarkets and retail stores.

The Minister further stated that the import of essential food items was done through open accounts and through this a decrease in the prices of imported essential food items was seen and raids are being conducted to see if the advantage is given to supermarkets and retailers and consumers..
