The “Presidential Environment Awards 2021-2022” organized by the Central Environment Authority will be held today at 9 am under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe and Environment Minister Engineer Naseer Ahmed, Secretary of the Environment Ministry Dr Anil Jasinghe, Chairman of the Central Environment Authority Supun S. Pathirage, Central Environment Authority Director General P. B. Hemantha Jayasinghe participated in the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall at the Lotus Hall.

This year the 9th Presidential Environment Awards ceremony was held.

Awarding state honours to industries, business organizations and individuals who have done an excellent job in environmental conservation; Building an environmentally friendly industry, business and service culture, and encouraging the society for environmentally friendly activities; Under the guidance of the Ministry of Environment, the Central Environment Authority organizes such an award ceremony annually, keeping in mind the objectives of including people’s participation in sustainable development. Taking into account the current conditions in the country in the past years, arrangements were made to present the awards for both the years 2021 and 2022 at this year’s ceremony. (Divaina)
