The National Transport Commission says that due to the ongoing fuel crisis, the new bus service to transport school children will be implemented from August 1st.
Director General of the National Transport Commission Dr. Nilan Merenda said that about 40 buses will be operated in the Western Province under the normal fare from August 1st.
He mentioned that this project will be started to facilitate the travel of the children of the main schools in the areas like Colombo main school and Gampaha, Kalutara, Horana, Homagama, Maharagama and other schools around them.
