The postage rate for an average letter that was formerly Rs. 15 has been hiked by the government to Rs. 50.

The cost of registered postage would rise from Rs. 30 to Rs. 60. The postage cost for a letter weighing up to 20 grams has been increased from Rs. 12 to Rs. 30, under the provision to ship letters at discounted rates for charities and volunteer organizations.

Additionally, steps have been initiated to raise the postal price from Rs. 12 to Rs. 30 for letter delivery inside the Colombo Metropolitan Area. Additionally, the cost of the open printed matter packet letter service has increased from Rs. 12 to Rs. 30. The Department of Posts has increased the first charge for newspapers and periodicals from Rs. 10 to Rs. 20.

One kilogram is the maximum weight of a package that may be transmitted by this service, and posting such a package costs 110 rupees.

Postal objects weighing 250 grams that are shipped by regular mail previously cost Rs. 90, but now cost Rs. 150.

A postcard now costs Rs. 20 instead of Rs. 10, which was the previous price. A Rs.18 stamp cover has been revised to Rs.60, while a Rs.20 big stamp cover has been revised to Rs.70. Along with the change of postal rates, the maximum amount of money that may be transmitted through the Money Order Service has been increased to Rs.100,000.
