During yesterday’s rallies outside the Parliament, anti-government protestors seized a T-56 rifle and two magazines containing 60 rounds of ammo from an Army soldier, according to the police.
Last evening’s public revolt near the Parliament at the Polduwa Junction in Battaramulla injured an Army soldier and a police constable.
After being attacked by demonstrators, a police constable assigned to the Kalutara Police Training School was hospitalized with injuries.
According to reports, the Army soldier is assigned to the Wellawaya Army Camp and has been hospitalized with injuries.
A report has been made with the Borella Police Department regarding the handgun and ammo detained by the protesters.
Police in Welikada and Borella have initiated investigations to locate the missing firearm and ammo.
However, over 42 people were hurt Friday evening following conflicts between protesters and security officers near the Parliament at Polduwa Junction in Battaramulla.
