Minister of State for Finance Dr Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has instructed the officials to immediately simplify and expand the activities related to giving a TIN to everyone above 18 years of age under the economic reform process.
Accordingly, it is stated that instructions were given to the Ministry of Public Administration that related facilities should be provided in all the Divisional Secretariats and necessary arrangements should be made to open a separate counter for that purpose.
Apart from that, the Minister of State also mentioned that related activities should be looked into to open related counters in places like government banks, the Department for Registration of Persons, and the Department of Motor Traffic.
It is further stated that the minister has mentioned this in a discussion held with officials of the Inland Revenue Department, State Administration and Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) to make the provision of TIN efficient.
