Kanchana Wijesekera, the Minister of Power and Energy, has instructed the Electricity Board and the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA) to cancel the project licenses that have been granted temporary licenses for the implementation of power projects and the project licenses that have exceeded the license period and to cancel the permits of the suppliers who have tendered but have not yet carried out positive works.
The Minister also said that the plans for prompt payment of non-conventional renewable energy suppliers’ allowances, the new electricity purchase price formula, the power generation plan in the next 18 months, as well as the progress review of the projects that have been granted temporary licenses, were discussed.
The minister said this during the review meeting on the renewable energy project implementation plan for the years 2023-2026 and 2026-2030. (Lankadeepa)
