The Court of Appeal has directed the respondents to comment on the petition filed in connection with the recent Rambukkana shooting incident.
The petition was filed seeking a writ order suspending the order issued by the Kegalle Magistrate to arrest a group of police officers including Kegalle SSP K.B Keerthiratne.
Accordingly, the Court of Appeal has issued notice to the IGP and the Director of the CID to respond to the petitions on the 27th of this month.
At Rambukkana on the 19th regarding the increase in fuel prices a riot was started and on the process removing hundreds of protesters one person died in an unfortunate way because of the shooting.
