The Inspector General of Police points out that the Sri Lanka Police always respects the right of speech and expression guaranteed by the Constitution, as well as the freedom of peaceful assembly.
The IGP further appeals to the public to refrain from damaging government and private property and interfering with legally employed government and private employees and to enjoy their basic rights.
