The Sri Lanka Army successfully conducted the 7th phase of the Multi-Disciplinary Medical Clinic for differently-abled, retired Veterans, and relatives of fallen War Heroes, at the Combat Training School, Ampara, on 19 September 2025. The initiative aimed to address the healthcare needs of Army veterans residing in the Eastern Province.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Organized under the supervision of the Directorate of Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation, the clinic catered to beneficiaries from the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, providing a wide array of medical services. These included assessments for long-term illnesses, occupational health consultations, mobile eye clinics, physiotherapy sessions, dental care, mental health counselling. Mobile laboratory services and testing for artificial limbs and surgical instruments were also made available during the camp.
The programme benefited over 1,250 individuals and the clinic extended its services beyond veterans themselves, encompassing the next of kin of fallen War Heroes, retired personnel and their family members, ensuring inclusive care and support. Adding further value to the occasion, a range of essential items including wheelchairs, crutches and surgical equipment were donated to the veterans.
In addition, arrangements were made to provide advice and guidance on land, housing, salaries, and other administrative issues faced by war heroes and their immediate relatives. These services were facilitated by representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Ranaviru Seva Authority, and the relevant Army Directorates who attended the workshop.
