Member of Parliament Nimal Siripala da Silva has been sworn in as the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation in the evening.
Nimal Siripala de Silva also resigned from his ministerial post, stating that an independent investigation should be conducted regarding the allegations that he had demanded a bribe from a Japanese company.
Later, President Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed a three-member committee to look into the matter and the committee acquitted MP Nimal Siripala de Silva of the allegations.
