The Kuliyapitiya Magistrate Courts held a man apprehended for recording a video while holding a knife to his five-year-old son’s neck and threatening to kill him until his wife working overseas returns home until August 22.
He was detained on Sunday by Kuliyapitiya Police and appeared in court yesterday.
According to police, the youngster is presently living with his grandma. On August 22, the Police Department was instructed to produce a detailed probation report.
Previously, the suspect had transmitted the video he had recorded to his wife and the job agency that had sent her abroad through WhatsApp.
After the incident was brought to the attention of the police, the Kuliyapitiya Police Children and Women’s Bureau took the kid into custody and arrested the man.
The knife used in the menacing video was also discovered by the Police Children and Women’s Bureau. Due to the presence of damage marks on the infant’s neck, police officials took urgent measures to admit the youngster to the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital. According to police, the individual has committed similar crimes in the past.
