The Government has decided to transfer 23 acres and 12 perches of land belonging to the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation to the Sri Lanka Port Authority for the development of Kankasanthurai Port.
Accordingly, the government says that the port authority has paid 52 million rupees to the Sri Lanka Cement Corporation as an advance payment based on the assessment of the chief appraiser of the government to take over the relevant land to the Sri Lanka Port Authority.
Cabinet approval has been received to transfer the relevant land parcels to the Sri Lanka Port Authority as a grant with clear title under Section 6(1) of the Government Land Ordinance Act following formal legal procedures.
