It is reported that due to the new order of President Ranil, there has been another obstacle to the election process.
The Election Commission is currently preparing for the local government election and the sources of the Election Commission state that its basic activities will be carried out on the basis of credit.
Yesterday (31), the President issued a new order that public institutions should not purchase goods and services on the basis of credit and that public officials who violate the order shall be personally responsible for the related expenses.
It is also reported that due to the new order, there has been another obstacle to the Election Commission’s activities such as providing fuel on a credit basis, carrying out printing works, and obtaining the services of public servants.
In every election held so far, the Election Commission has procured goods and services on a credit basis and the related money has been released from time to time.
Some people suspect that the new order of the People’s Justice was made with the aim of local government elections. (Lankadeepa)
