The Food Safety Unit of the Ministry of Health has started an investigation regarding the importation of poisoned rice into Sri Lanka.
Acting Deputy Director General of the unit Dr. Tilak Siriwardena said that the samples have already been forwarded to government-approved laboratories.
Accordingly, the inspection reports are expected to be received next week and if any customer has any doubt regarding the content of food items including rice, the relevant unit requests the public to contact the Food Safety Unit of the Ministry of Health on 0112 112 718.
