With immediate effect, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to increase the monthly salaries of public servants with immediate effect from the next interim relief budget to deal with the rising cost of living.
He said the decision was taken to empower public servants to face the rising cost of living.
The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed the budget drafting officials that the salaries of public servants should be increased by Rs. 10,000 within 100 days as soon as the government of good governance came to power in 2015.
It is said that Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe is to present the budget requesting to increase the salaries of the public sector in line with the increase in the salaries of these public servants.
