A solar power project is to be started on three islands in the north and it has been discussed about starting it soon.
Apart from that, discussions have also been held regarding starting a ferry service between Rameswaram and Thalai Mannar in India and Sagala Ratnayake mentioned that the work to start a ferry service between Kankasanthurai and Karikal in India is in the final stage.
