It has been decided to expedite the project of introducing a Unique Digital Identity, which is a basic foundation needed for the implementation of digitization projects in this country.
The Indo-Sri Lanka Project Monitoring Committee which has been appointed to implement the project states that the tenders related to the implementation of the project have now been received and it is being reviewed according to a proper timeline.
Accordingly, it is reported that the Indian High Commissioner has handed over a check worth 15% of the estimated total amount of the project, i.e. 450 million Indian rupees, to the Minister of State for Technology, Kanaka Herath, as an advance fee for the implementation of the project.
