“Distracting people won’t change the facts. India looks a lot like Sri Lanka,” The congressmen’s leader shared six sets of graphs comparing Sri Lanka and India with unemployment, pertol prices, and communal violence in the tweet.

Rahul Gandhi, the Indian opposition leader, has shared a graph showing the similarity between India and Sri Lanka and has warned that India will be facing a similar situation to Sri Lanka if left unattended.
The graphs show that unemployment in both countries began to rise in 2017, peaked around 2020 – the year India imposed a lockdown to combat the coronavirus – and then began to fall slightly the following year.
The second set of graphs compares petrol prices in India and Sri Lanka, which have been rising since 2017 and are expected to skyrocket by 2021. The third set of graphs shows a significant increase in communal violence in both countries in 2020-21.
The data is attributed to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, Lok Sabha unstarred questions, CMIE, Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and CEYPETCO, according to the post (Ceylon Petroleum Corporation).
