Manusha Nanayakkara, the minister of labor and foreign employment, has proposed extending the incentives offered to migrant workers to remote employees employed in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector. He said the plan received a favorable response from President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
“I just spoke with the President to ask whether we could extend the proposed incentives, such as a license to import EV cars for employees who work for an offshore IT and ICT companies from Sri Lanka while receiving US dollars as salary, and he responded positively,” the Minister tweeted yesterday.
Software developers that work for offshore organizations and get USD income will thus be eligible to enjoy the aforementioned advantages.
