The Meterology Department requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning during thundershowers as the atmospheric conditions are favorable further for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.
Showers or thundershowers may occur in Northern and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota district during the morning too.
Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North- western provinces and in Badulla, Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely elsewhere, it said.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning
