Under the Government’s Food Security Programme, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed Urban Development Minister Prasanna Ranatunge to take efforts to offer aid for low-income households from Negombo to Kalutara.
As Minister of Finance, the Prime Minister would allocate Rs.200 billion (about USD 560 million) from the next Interim Budget to help low-income households across the country.
As a result, each such household is likely to get Rs.7,500 through this scheme. A meeting in this respect was recently conducted at the Prime Minister’s office, and the PM directed authorities to produce a report with all the specifics needed to implement this program immediately.
