The Minister of power and energy, Kanchana Wijesekara, said that the government is planning on providing an uninterrupted power supply as soon as possible with sufficient fuel being provided to the power plants.
Minister further said that Norachcholai power plant is expected to perform fully from this week and along with the hydro power generation, they are expecting to provide uninturrupted power supply early next week.
The minister also mentioned that the initial plan was to supply from the first week of June but with the Norachcholai power plant caming back with full potential this week they will be able to supply as soon as they expected.
Minister also mentioned general public to not to consume extra fuel for the personal generators so that the vehicles can use the excessive fuel as the power interuption will not commence.
He also said the government is planning to resume operations of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery as well. The minister expressed these views while addressing the media at a press briefing held at the ministry premised today.
