Myanmar’s military government has decided to release 6000 political prisoners, according to media reports in the country.
There are three foreigners among those 6,000. The three are a former British ambassador, a Japanese film producer and an Australian who worked as an adviser to jailed democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
It is also said that the Myanmar government has decided to release these political prisoners on the occasion of the celebration of Myanmar National Day.
Myanmar’s military arrested more than 16,000 people as it ousted pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi and seized control of the country. (Reuters)
