Colombo, Sri Lanka – March 11, 2025 –“The question is not whether AI will be a fixture in education. The question is how we should adapt.” With this powerful statement, the TechEdu 2025 Summit set the stage for a groundbreaking discussion on the future of education. Held at the Lotus Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, the summit brought together educators, administrators, and school leaders to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming education and how schools can adapt to this new reality.

“This genie is out of the bottle now. It’s there, our kids are using it, they’re all over it. So now we’re duty-bound to make sure they’re using it effectively.” This sentiment, echoed throughout the summit, underscored the urgency of embracing AI to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

E-W Information Systems Ltd (EWIS), a digital transformation pioneer with over 39 years of experience, furthered its commitment to AI-driven learning in Sri Lanka with TechEdu 2025. Building on their successful establishment of IT labs in 800 schools under the Mahindodaya Project and the execution of 22 island-wide technical forums to train educators on digital adoption, EWIS continues to bridge the gap between traditional learning and modern digital advancements, solidifying their role in the nation’s educational evolution.

The TechEdu 2025 Summit featured internationally renowned education technology experts, including:Professor Brenton Burchmore, a leading authority in educational innovation, who provided practical insights into the evolving role of technology in modern pedagogy.Dr. Rani Burchmore, a specialist in AI-driven learning and pedagogy, who shared her journey of adopting AI as an educator and provided strategies for seamless AI integration into teaching.

The summit discussions underscored the transformative potential of AI in education, emphasizing key benefits such as personalized learning through AI-powered tools that tailor lesson plans to individual student needs, automated administrative tasks that reduce teacher workload, data-driven insights that enable educators to monitor student progress and make informed decisions, and enhanced student engagement through technologies like gamification, virtual reality, and interactive learning.TechEdu 2025 was not just about concepts, it was about real-world applications. Educators left with practical, actionable takeaways to implement AI effectively in their classrooms.

Mr. Sanjeewa Wickramanayake, Chairman & CEO of EWIS, stated “At EWIS, we believe AI should not be a barrier but a bridge for educators. AI has the power to transform the way we teach and learn, but it’s essential that educators feel empowered, not overwhelmed. Through initiatives like TechEdu 2025, we are ensuring Sri Lanka’s education sector is equipped with the right tools and knowledge to thrive in an AI-driven world.”

The TechEdu 2025 Summit reaffirmed EWIS’s role as a catalyst for change in Sri Lanka’s education sector. As AI continues to redefine the future of learning, EWIS remains deeply committed to empowering educators and ensuring they are well-prepared to leverage AI for a smarter, more adaptive learning environment.
