In an inspiring act of compassion and solidarity, the Event Management Association – Sri Lanka (EMA) organized its first-ever corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, “Help Apeksha – An Evening of Music, Love, and Care” at the National Cancer Institute. This heart-warming event reached out to over 200 paediatric patients and 600 adult patients, offering them an unforgettable evening of joy and entertainment infused with a generous dose of love and care from EMA members and their families.

The Event Management Association of Sri Lanka (EMA), comprising event managers, wedding planners, and event suppliers, has not only been instrumental in fostering innovation and excellence to elevate the standard of events in Sri Lanka but also came together as one to show that, in humanitarian efforts, unity and compassion transcend individual interests. President Nisal Caldera remarked, “This initiative reflects our collective commitment to giving back to the community. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we stand united in our desire to spread hope and care.”

EMA members came together to make this event a resounding success. Funds for the project were raised through member contributions, showcasing the power of collaboration and generosity. The project would not have been possible without the enthusiastic participation of top Sri Lankan artists who performed pro bono, creating a magical atmosphere that uplifted spirits and inspired smiles.

Performances by renowned artists such as BnS, Jaya Sri, Piyal Perera of Gypsies, Umaria, Umara, and Sana, as well as ‘Xotic’ with their scintillating music, and Fahad Farook with his masterful compeering, volunteered their time to entertain and bring joy to the patients.

Each child received a toy bag filled with thoughtful presents, sparking priceless smiles. Adult patients were provided with snack packs to enjoy while immersing themselves in the delightful performances. Additionally, tokens of appreciation were presented to the hospital administration, acknowledging their willingness and support in allowing EMA to conduct this program at their facility.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to the artists who performed free of charge, embodying the true spirit of giving, as well as the service providers who supported the event with logistics and resources, and a special thank you to the ‘Help Apeksha’ Development Committee and the management and staff of the National Cancer Institute, Sri Lanka, whose unwavering cooperation and dedication were instrumental in making the event a resounding success. Through their invaluable support and dedication to this truly meritorious cause, they have reinforced EMA’s belief that it has partners they can rely on to create meaningful change in the lives.

The “Help Apeksha” project marks the beginning of EMA’s journey in charitable efforts. EMA is strongly committed to continuing such initiatives and spreading happiness and joy to all. The Association pledges to organize more projects that uplift and empower the vulnerable and providing a glimmer of hope in their hour of need.
