The second Test between the visiting England Lions team and Sri Lanka ‘A’ team ended in a draw yesterday (10th). Chasing a target of 284 runs for victory, the visiting team scored 173 runs with a loss of 7 wickets at the end of the match. At that time, the England team was 111 runs behind Sri Lanka ‘A’ team. The first four-day Test cricket match between the two teams also ended in a draw.

Yesterday, Lakshitha Manasinghe, who bowled brilliantly for Sri Lanka ‘A’ team, took the England captain’s wicket and the wicket of Tom Haynes and made a strong effort to lead the match to victory. Manasinghe then took the wickets of Jamie Smith, Tom Abell and Matthew Fisher. But Manasinghe’s effort was interrupted by Joss Bonaman. At the end of the match, he stayed at one end and scored 34 runs in 50 balls.

Opening batsman Nishan Madushka, who scored a double century in the first match, managed to score a century in this match as well. Nishan, who was unbeaten on 84 on the previous day, completed his century yesterday and then got out. He had managed to hit 16 fours and one six in 125 balls. Lahiru Udara and Lakshitha Manasinghe, who contributed to the formation of Sri Lanka’s second innings through the middle order and the back order, worked to cross the 350 mark on the Sri Lanka scoreboard. Lahiru Udara scored 63 runs and Lakshitha Manasinghe scored 43 runs.

Josh Tongue took 4 wickets and Jack Carson took 3 wickets against Sri Lanka. Chamika Karunaratne, who was called up for this match, was dismissed for zero runs in the second innings and his first innings also ended before scoring. (Divaina)
