Ceylon Electricity Board‘s media spokesperson Noel Priyantha said that with the prevailing dry weather conditions, the daily electricity demand has increased by 3-4 gigawatt hours.

He points out that the water capacity associated with hydroelectric power plants has dropped to 83%, and accordingly, hydropower generation has dropped to 21%.

Because of this, 64% of electricity generation is done through thermal power plants, so the media spokesperson informs the people to use electricity sparingly as much as possible.
