An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.7 struck the coast of San Francisco on Friday morning, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The earthquake occurred about three miles northwest of the San Francisco Zoo in the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, with none to light shaking felt in the area. As of Friday morning, no damage was immediately reported.
Earthquakes with a magnitude of 3 or 4 generally lead to affected residents feeling mild shaking, according to California State University Long Beach. Earthquakes of magnitude 5.4 or less occur hundreds of thousands of times per year, Michigan Technological University reported.
