According to a Cabinet proposal to name Karapitiya Teaching Hospital as a National Hospital, the cabinet has approved the development of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital as a national hospital.
Accordingly, Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital became the third national hospital in Sri Lanka, and it is mentioned that only Colombo National Hospital and Kandy National Hospital are developed national hospitals in Sri Lanka.
Health and Industry Minister Dr Ramesh Pathirana has submitted this proposal to the Cabinet.
