It’s been a year, but your energy hasn’t disappeared!!
From my childhood, I have been a fan of Sunil Perera, his music, his entertainment, and his charisma. He was my music idol who inspired me and gave me the confidence to pursue writing my own songs and singing.
From the moment I heard of his demise, I was gathering thoughts to express my gratitude and admiration for Sunil Perera and his incredible legacy.
I wasn’t alive when the great Wally Bastien was initiating the ‘බයිලා’ genre in the country. But I was lucky enough to be there when Sunil Perera and Gypsies were revolutionizing the ‘බයිලා’ genre in our nation.
Wally Bastien is considered the “බයිලා Champion” in Sri Lanka, and for me, uncle Sunil is the “බයිලා ලෝකෙ පෙරලිකාරයා”.
And that’s how the words for this song flowed to my mind.
This is only an innocent and heartfelt expression of the Love and Passion I have towards uncle Sunil and his music.
