Indictments have been filed against former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Ajith Nivard Cabraal and three other defendants in a case filed against them alleging financial losses caused to the government of Sri Lanka through investments in Greek treasury bonds in 2012.The defendants were accused of causing a loss of over Rs. 1.8 billion to the Sri Lankan government through the Greek T-bond investments in 2012.However, following the submission of indictments filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), the Colombo High Court has ordered the four defendants be released on surety…

The Colombo High Court has ordered frozen several bank accounts owned by former MP Anupa Pasqual, in connection with an investigation being carried out under the Anti-Corruption Act.Accordingly, two bank accounts owned by the former MP in Koggala and Matugama branches of a bank have been ordered frozen for three months, Ada Derana reporter said.The order was issued in consideration of a request made by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in relation to the investigation carried out by the commission.

The Department of Posts has issued a clarification regarding the recent release of stamps featuring Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Minister Vijitha Herath. Justice Murdhu Fernando has taken oath as the Acting Chief Justice before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning (10), the President’s Media Division (PMD) reported.Justice Fernando is the second woman to hold the position of Chief Justice in Sri Lanka’s history, after Shirani Bandaranayake in 2011.Fernando joined the Attorney General’s Department as a state counsel, where she served for over 30 years having been promoted to senior state counsel, deputy solicitor general, additional solicitor general and senior additional solicitor general.
