A passenger train going from Mysore to Darbhanga has collided with a stationary goods train in the Tiruvallur district, near Chennai. The train entered a loop line instead of the main line, following which at least 12 coaches derailed, leaving several passengers injured. The Tiruvallur District Collector said that 1,360 passengers were on board.19 of the passengers are reported to be injured, and of them, four suffered severe injuries. Three persons including a three-year-old boy have reportedly died after being hit by a train near the Katukurunda railway station this evening (12).They had died after a collision with a train plying from Matara to Colombo, Ada Derana reporter said. Two males including the boy’s 22-year-old father were killed on the spot while three-year-old had succumbed to critical injuries after being admitted to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital.
