A total of 39 candidates will contest the 2024 Presidential Election, the National Election Commission announced today. According to the Election Commission, 39 candidates handed in their nominations during the acceptance of nominations from 09.00 am to 11.00 am held today. The Indo-Sri Lanka Joint Field Military Exercise โMitrashaktiโ commenced with a parade at the Army Training School, Maduruoya on 14 August 2024.Major General Dinesh Udugama, the Commander of the 59 Infantry Division and the Director of the exercise, graced the ceremony as the chief guest. During the event, he officially declared the commencement of the military exercise and addressed the Sri Lankan and Indian troops participating in the exercise.The inaugural parade was commanded by Major Roshan Weerakkodi, the Commanding Officer of the 3 Gajaba Regiment.
