he Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said that the assets declarations of Presidential candidates are now available on its official website for public access. In accordance with Section 89 of the Anti-Corruption Act, Presidential candidates submitted their assets and liabilities statements along with their nomination papers to the Election Commission. These statements have since been forwarded to the CIABOC.Accordingly, the redacted versions of the relevant asset and liability declarations, with certain non-disclosable information removed as per Subsection 88(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, are now being made public. declarations can be viewe here
Namal Dissanayake, Chief Engineer of Kandy Municipal Councilโs Waste Management Unit, said that more than 250 tons of garbage was collected within the city limits during the ten days of the Kandy Esala Perahera. An Inspector of Police and a Constable have been arrested by the Colombo Crime Division for possessing over 1 kg of heroin in Piliyandala.Police said the suspects were arrested while arriving in a car at a parking lot of a supermarket in Piliyandala.The arrested officers are reportedly attached to the Moratuwa STF Camp Intelligence Unit.The 35-year-old Inspector was arrested on charges of aiding drug trafficking, while the Constable is charged with possession of heroin.
