An Anuradhapura farmer has set a record by earning the highest income from chilli harvest.

Mr HMA Peiris, a farmer who is a resident of Sivalakulam, Puliyankulama in Anuradhapura district, has kept this income record by using the High-Density Cropping System introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that this farmer has earned 70 lakh rupees by growing chillies on half an acre.

Previously, the highest income earned by cultivating half an acre of chillies was a farmer in Jaffna and he earned 50 lakh rupees by cultivating half an acre of chillies, the ministry says.
