Taiwan was rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale. Taiwan is a separate sovereign state adjacent to China that China claims.

It is also said that after 25 years Taiwan was shaken by such a strong earthquake. Although buildings and houses were damaged, no deaths were reported. The number of injured is 50.

The earthquake struck around 8 a.m. Taiwan time. With the earthquake, tsunami warnings were issued to neighbouring countries including the Philippines and Japan, but the warnings were later cancelled.
